  • Class of 1992

    Steve Porter

When I was at Biola, I never thought I would end up teaching here.  Sometimes I am asked whether it is strange to teach at the place where I did my undergrad (and some graduate work).  My typical response is that Biola has changed so much in the last 15 or so years that I am rarely reminded of my own student days.  This institution has grown in size, infrastructure, reputation, and quality since I graduated in 1992.  And yet the spiritual life of the students, faculty, and staff make this place very much the same.  Every fall semester I still find myself staring into faces of students who want to love Jesus more, become more like him, and serve him in this world.  In that way the names have changed but the faces have remained the same.  I imagine 100 years ago the same could be said and I trust that 100 years from now the persons who make up Biola will be as deeply committed to life and service in the Kingdom of God as they are today.
